TV antennas do not have to be complicated or costly. There are some simple but effective TV antennas designs can be built at home with parts you may already have in your home.
DB4 HDTV Antenna
One of the most successful "Build your own TV antenna plans are based on a design called the DB4. The DB4 is considered one of the best "general purpose" to pull in the design of HDTV signals in many situations.
DB4 antennas are commercially available from about $ 40 and above, but here I
will show you how to build your own for much less than that.
Build your own HDTV Antenna Plans
Here's what you need to get started:
22 inches of 2x3 or 1x3 board
18 Screws
18 washers, sized to fit on the screws for the cable
15 feed of wire. Approximately 5 feet from the house of three-conductor copper wire will do fine. Coat hangers can work if stripped of paint in all connections.
Reflector grid (mesh as reflective metallic material.) Two 15x9 grid screens work well for a few dollars.
A Balun - Something with a coaxial plug on one side, two cables with screw holes in the other. These are used to hold at the age of coaxial TV antenna (or cable.) They are cheap (I saw at once for as little as 30 cents each), and commonly available. My local dollar store carries them!
Tools:
Drill
Screwdriver, screw or something to drill
Wire cutters
Pliers
Step 1 - Find, Measure and Mark a piece of wood
Find a table similar to a 2x3 or 1x3
Make lines of marks below the photo
Step 2 - Making V Cable 8 wire
Cut eight 14 "long sections of cable.
Find the center, and bend each wire into two 7 feet long with a 3 "gap. (7 'legs with a 3 "gap is important!)
Step 3 - Connect the wires to board
Attach the "V" on board the cables with screws and washers, as shown in the picture.
Zig-Zag the two connection wires and the center of the board as shown. It is important that when the cables cross each other, not tap.
Step 4 - Attach Reflector
Attach the reflectors on the back with screws. The reflectors must not touch the "V" of cables.
Step 5 - Connect Balun
Connect the Balun to the two sections of the center wire. Make sure that the two connections do not touch each other.
Step 6 - It's Done! Proof of the antenna!
